WHY AND HOW TO GIVE
When You Give…
· You make sure that members of our church and community have someone who can connect them with resources for spiritual and material needs.
· You provide room and utilities for DayStay Adult Day Services to minister to 18 adults and families, and Hominy Child Care to serve 130+ children and families.
· You provide a visit and a warm meal every weekday for 26 elderly or disabled adults through Daily Bread.
· You encourage wellness for children through senior adults seven days a week through the Ferguson Family Life Center.
· You support worship and learning that equip children, youth, and adults to be the people God calls us to be.
· You extend the reach of the Gospel across our state, nation, and around the world.
You develop a spirit of generosity that pleases God and changes how you relate with what you have.

Path To Generous Giving
It is difficult to suddenly start tithing 10% of your income if your current giving is a lot less. Your income may be tied up in previous commitments, or you may be experiencing a tough time financially. However, making the decision to dedicate a portion of your income to God is the first step, and you can grow in faith and impact with prayer and planning.
Step 1
If you currently give sporadically, try this—the next time you pay bills, decide what portion of your income you will give to church, then set up an automatic payment from your bank to Hominy. If you write monthly checks for your bills, write the first check to Hominy. Do this for six months and then move to step 2.
Step 2
If you faithfully contribute on a regular basis, figure what percentage of your income you are giving. For instance if you make $2000 a month and give $40 a month, the percentage is 2% (divide the gift by the income and multiply by 100). If you’re giving 2%, try 3%. That would only be an additional $5 a week (much less than a meal at McDonald’s). Aim toward increasing the percentage over time. Eventually you will reach 10%, the tithe described in the Bible. Now you’re ready to consider step 3.
Step 3
“The tithe makes a great floor but a lousy ceiling.” You don’t have to limit your generosity to 10% of your income. Moving beyond the tithe can be an exhilarating blessing and a strengthening act of faith. May God bless you as you discover what great generosity can mean to you!
