Melissa Hughes: Minister to Families

I began my ministry at Hominy Baptist Church in March of 1997. Before that time I spent 8 years working in the church office at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, NC. I truly feel that God has called me to Hominy to serve and assist the people here. Shortly after coming to work at Hominy, I also became a member.
For 9 ½ years I worked in the front office at Hominy as a Ministry Assistant. I received my Ministry Assistant Certification through the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Working in that position taught me a great deal about people and my desire to serve others. It truly brought about my calling to be a minister of the Gospel and to make this my life-long work. On October 5, 2004, I was ordained to Christian ministry.
In the fall of 2007 I began working in a new position as the Minister to Families. This position fulfilled a desire in my heart to work with children, youth, and their parents. This is truly a place where I have felt God leading me to new and unique ministry opportunities.
I am very thankful for the people at Hominy and for their love and support of my ministry. My husband, Greg, and my three children, Matthew, Kelsie, and Grace, also feel that Hominy is their home. It is a place where I would encourage anyone looking for a church to begin and end their search. If you have a willing heart and a desire to serve, then Hominy is for you.
