Loving God, Loving Others, Loving You—With all our heart, soul, mind and strength!
Ferguson Family Life Center
At our 200th Anniversary Homecoming, November 11, 2012, it was announced that the Jack and Carolyn Ferguson family had extended to Hominy Baptist Church the incredible gift of over 2 million dollars to fully fund the construction of a new 13,642 square feet family life center. The Ferguson Family Life Center will include a high school size basketball court, an exercise equipment room, a small concessions kitchen, a classroom and a meeting room. Based on the Ferguson family’s desire to lessen the long term operational expenses of the building, the Family Life Center will include a solar energy system. The system will be as large as the roof area allows, generating enough electricity for much of the campus' needs.
The building site is to the southeast of the Ministries Center between the upper and lower parking lots. The congregation voted in January 2013 to accept the gift and assume responsibility for growing to provide the financial resources necessary to support the daily operation of the new building upon completion in 2014. Bob Smith III of Talley & Smith Architecture was our architect. Cresent Construction was the general contractor. See current plans here. See press release from August 18, 2013. Construction began in November 2013 and the building was dedicated on November 16, 2014. The first of many basketball games was played on December 18, 2014. We are in the process of opening the building for activities. See below for updates.
