Loving God, Loving Others, Loving You—With all our heart, soul, mind and strength!

Core Values

In addition to our Mission Statement, these core values help describe Hominy Baptist Church.

Grace & Acceptance: None of us are perfect, all of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s will. God extends grace to us all, therefore we strive to be a nurturing community of faith in which all persons are welcome.

Transparency: Because of what Christ has done for us, we see no need to pretend to be anything other than who we are. We seek to speak the truth with love and avoid thinking too highly of ourselves.

Loving Care: We walk together in love as brothers and sisters in Christ; exercising Christian care and concern for each other; sharing each other's joys, and bearing each other's burdens and sorrows.

Ministry: We exist not only to care for each other but to minister to the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of people in our community and around the world. Every member of our faith family is called and equipped to do ministry.

Generosity: All that we have comes from God. We respond to needs by freely sharing from our finances, time and energy in response to God’s generosity with us.

Courageous Faith: While we seek to be good stewards of all that God has entrusted to us, we realize that following Christ is not a path for the faint hearted. We try to respond in faith when we feel led by God to do something beyond our comfort zones.

Baptist Principles
  • Soul Freedom – We believe in the priesthood of all believers. We affirm the freedom and responsibility of every person to relate directly to God without the imposition of creed or the control of clergy or government.
  • Bible Freedom – We believe in the authority of Scripture. We believe the Bible, under the Lordship of Christ, is central to the life of the individual and the church. We affirm the freedom and right of every Christian to interpret and apply Scripture under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
  • Church Freedom – We believe in the autonomy of every local church. We believe Baptist churches are free, under the Lordship of Christ, to determine their membership and leadership, to order their worship and work, to ordain whomever they perceive as gifted for ministry, and to participate as they deem appropriate in the larger Body of Christ.
  • Religious Freedom – We believe in freedom of religion, freedom for religion, and freedom from religion. We support the separation of church and state.
