DayStay Adult Day Services is a unique adult day care program located at Hominy Baptist Church, easily accessible from Asheville, Enka, and Canton. Its activity-driven program focuses on providing socialization and programs that help participants develop to their greatest potential, while strengthening and improving physical and cognitive abilities. Its diversified program offers a wide range of activities, both for the individual and the group setting.

State-certified, tax exempt, nonprofit 501(c)(3), and faith based, DayStay draws upon the best of all worlds. Our state certification assures that we will always meet the highest standards of health, safety, sanitation, activities, and personnel. Our tax exempt status allows us to raise additional funds that will make up the difference between our fees and what it actually costs to operate. This helps us to keep our fees as low as possible and to offer grants and scholarships to those who could not otherwise afford this badly needed service. Finally, as part of the faith-based community, we have access to highly competent volunteers who are devoted to serving our special population of senior adults.

Improving the quality of life for both participants and their caregivers is the driving force in DayStay’s approach to adult day services. Respite support for the caregiver and life enrichment for the participant is what makes DayStay an ideal solution for many families struggling with care for their loved one while managing their own complex daily lives. Partnerships have played a major role in the accomplishments of DayStay. We are proud members of the North Carolina Day Services Association and partners with Hominy Baptist Church in a variety of services for senior adults in the community. Working with our local Council on Aging, Alzheimer’s Association, Department of Social Services, hospital and nursing home discharge planners and social workers, DayStay has an excellent reputation for providing adult day services in a collaborative environment.

Respect and admiration for our participants and their loving caregivers is the hallmark of our methodology and the key to our success. Providing our services in a caring and compassionate manner assures that our participants’ rights, safety, enrichment, and development are our highest priorities.

DayStay offers an individualized plan of care to meet the needs of each participant. Staff will develop this plan of care in consultation with the participant and his or her family. Plans may include:

Personal care

Recreation
Arts and crafts
Educational and informational opportunities
Pastoral counseling
Referral to community services and resources
Individual and group supervision
Organized social activities and field trips
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks
Exercise and range of motion activities
